I never got to checkin. There was no office to checkin at even though email said it was at the top of the hill. I sent messages asking how to checkin and never got a response. I ended up having to find a room at another hotel. Signs that were posted pointing toward community center at the lodge said closed due to vandalism. 0/10 would not recommend this property to anyone.
The Gatlinburg View Lodge has converted to weekly rentals. It is no longer a hotel. Chris and Audi, the caretakers, were very helpful and accommodated us, but they had to scramble to find us a room. The prior manager neglected to remove the Lodge from Expedia.
I read the previous reviews with people having difficulties getting into their rooms because this place has no front desk. I prepared myself, made sure i found the message that had my door code and check-in instructions. We pulled in around 9PM to find a sketchy couple fighting in the parking lot as we were unpacking our luggage. (I understand the motel has no control over this and not their fauly in any way, just gives you an idea of what kind of place this is) Two police cars show up asking about a woman screaming for help. We get to our room, enter the door code and nothing. Check and try several times and nothing. Cell service is limited so we had trouble getting a hold of someone. Once we did, told the guy on the other end what was going on, our room number and the door code we were given. He wants our expedia confirmation number. I explain i dont have it and cant get it, im on the phone (barely) and not enough service to load web pages. Asks for it again as hes getting some attitude about it, then says he will call back and hangs up. We're standing outside on the walkway, in the dark and cold waiting for a phone call. Nothing happens. About 5 mins later a woman walks by (talking on a phone) and says "are you having trouble getting into your room"? Just try XXXX number. We did and the door opens. Weird we thought but then noticed the code was just our room number with a "0" added to it. I'm guessing all rooms have the same setup. Room was dirty, shower clogged
I will never recommend this place. My family and I were planning the stay there for 7 days. After the first night we called Expedia telling them everything that went wrong. Expedia then called the hotel and the lady said everything I said was false. The only person that helped us out was the maintenance man. Him and his wife were the nicest sweetest people. They helped us out with whatever we needed. If it wasn’t for them that place would go down hill. I’m so glad Expedia was able to find us a a new hotel.
Looks rough from outside, but clean and safe inside. Kitchen and common areas were messy and unkept, but our room was great. Clean, everything worked and looked good, no smell or anything weird. My gf and I were happy.
Good access to trolly also!
This is a very basic no frills place to stay. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. The hotel is noisy and one night I called the police on a loud fight outside. The text gave me check in directions for a late arrival and said if I needed anything to let them know. I let them know I’d like an additional blanket, soap bar, and towel and never heard anything. I called and text and heard nothing. Was nice to have refrigerator and microwave in the room. Shower was good (but not a lot of pressure) except very low and the mirror is also very low—i could only see up to my neck without ducking down. There is never anyone in property or a front desk that I could find. It was an odd experience but okay for a cheaper place to stay.
